The Action Peoples Party (APP) in Imo State has declared its readiness for the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that it has what it takes to emerge victorious.
Addressing journalists during a press conference in Owerri, the party’s state chairman, Chief Ernest Njesi, disclosed that the APP has successfully uploaded the names of all its candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to him, the party has fielded three candidates for the Senate, 10 for the House of Representatives, and 27 for the Imo State House of Assembly.
Njesi said the party would intensify grassroots mobilisation by visiting communities across the state to sensitise residents on its programmes and encourage support for the APP ahead of the polls.
He further revealed that the party’s leader in Imo State, Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, will contest the Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial seat in the 2027 elections before pursuing his ambition to become the state’s governor.
The APP chairman also condemned what he described as an attack on the party’s state secretariat and the vandalism of one of its campaign billboards.
He alleged that political opponents were behind the incidents but insisted that such actions would not discourage the party from participating actively in the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Steve Nnadi, urged journalists to remain objective and fearless in reporting political developments while calling on Imo residents to support the APP at the polls.
He maintained that the party is fully prepared for the 2027 elections, has completed the selection of its candidates, and remains optimistic about securing victory despite what it described as politically motivated intimidation.
