Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, has clarified why the residents of the state will vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

According to Okpebholo, Tinubu’s release of funds to state governors would encourage Edo residents to support him.

In an appearance with Politics Today on Channels Television, he revealed that Tinubu would receive 2.5 million votes from the state in 2027.

The governor further promised that in order to make up for the figure, the entire state would turn out to vote for Tinubu.

He said: “I will get the 2.5 million votes from Edo State, it’s already on the streets, everybody is coming to vote for Asiwaju on that day.”

The governor also said that Bola Tinubu lost to former presidential candidate Peter Obi in the state during the 2023 election because former governor Godwin Obaseki had been defeated.

He added, “Peter Obi defeated Tinubu last time because the then governor (Obaseki) was not working, he was in the PDP and people want to voice out that this governor is not working and anybody coming we are going to do it the other way around.”
