Lukman, who was among the founding members of the APC, lamented that the party has not been able to sustain the vision that inspired its creation, adding that recent developments within its structure have been disheartening.

Reports indicate that the former APC chieftain has since aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television on Monday, Lukman noted that while public attention often centres on crises within opposition parties, the APC is equally battling internal contradictions that could lead to unexpected challenges.

Lukeman described politics as a contest of ideas and interests, expressing optimism that Nigerians will make informed decisions and ultimately support the ADC.

“I must say I feel disappointed, having been part of the founding members of the APC and understanding the vision that brought us together. Seeing what the party has become today is quite discouraging,” he said.

He also questioned the effectiveness of the party’s consensus arrangements, stating that many of them have reportedly broken down across various states.

“While there is a lot of focus on opposition crises, the ruling party is also dealing with its own internal contradictions, creating tensions that could result in unforeseen crises,” Lukman added.

He maintained that politics is about competition and engagement, stressing that his current political platform is prepared to face the realities on the ground.

“We are ready to engage the situation as it is, and we trust that Nigerians will make the right choice in the end,” he said.
