The Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC), has disclosed fresh updates about its upcoming Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship, and State Assembly primaries.
In a statement, National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas and National Secretary Barr. Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu said the primaries will hold nationwide on May 29, 2026, in line with the earlier timetable of May 28 and 29.
The party further clarified that due to the Eid-el-Kabir festivities and the associated public holidays, significant transportation and logistical issues have emerged, including a lack of available flights.
The party also said several candidates who participated in the screening exercise in Abuja, along with members of the screening committee, are currently stranded in the city.
Consequently, the party said the primaries will now hold on May 29, while it has set aside May 28 for arrivals, documentation with INEC and security agencies, consultative meetings, and other preparatory activities.
Additionally, it stated that the teams will conduct meetings with stakeholders, party elders, and aspirants in their respective states today, Thursday May 28.
Meanwhile, the NDC firmly warned that no state agency, including the Police, INEC, and the DSS, should participate in the events and meetings scheduled for May 28.
The party added that it would regard any activity carried out outside the approved guidelines as illegal and unauthorised.
