The former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that President Bola Tinubu would still defeat opposition candidates such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi even if a presidential election were conducted ten times.
He made the statement during an interview on EKTV, while reacting to calls from some Nigerians on social media demanding Tinubu’s resignation over rising insecurity in the country.
According to him, many of those calling for the president’s resignation already support opposition figures like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar.
He argued that Tinubu remains politically strong and would consistently win against them in any repeat election scenario.
“A lot of people on social media are asking Tinubu to resign now, but I’m saying you don’t need to fight because he still has one year left,” he said.
Fayose added that those pushing for change are largely aligned with opposition camps, but insisted the president would still prevail politically.
“Somebody whom Buhari did not support, but he struggled and emerged President, will now fold his hands and allow the opposition to take over power from him?” he said.
