Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly and the estranged wife of Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia—widely known as 2Baba—has faced criticism for identifying herself by her maiden surname, Osawaru, instead of her husband’s family name, Idibia.
In a video shared on her Instagram account, Natasha formally addressed the assembly while introducing herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru.”
She said, “Mr Speaker, my name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, member representing the very great people of Egor Constituency and, by God’s grace, the minority leader of this House.”
Public scrutiny surrounding the couple’s relationship intensified in August following an unexpected appearance by Natasha at an Abuja venue where the artist was slated to perform.
A video that circulated widely online appeared to capture the pair engaged in a heated dispute.
Rumors of a potential split gained further traction after Natasha was noticeably absent from 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The gathering brought together the artist’s mother, Rose Idibia, his children, and numerous entertainment industry figures, such as Kenny Ogungbe, Dayo “D1” Adeneye, Wande Coal, African China, Ayo Makun, Faze, and Tony Tetuila.
Public speculation regarding Natasha’s marriage to the musician intensified following her absence from the event.
Neither Natasha nor 2Baba has publicly addressed the status of their relationship or provided an explanation for her absence from the birthday celebration.
