In a recent interview with ESPN UK, ex-Nigerian international and former Inter Milan forward Obafemi Martins claims to be the fastest footballer ever.
Obafemi compared his prime self to some fast footballers in football history. He claimed to be the fastest against Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, Tottenham’s Van de Ven, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, and prime Cristiano Ronaldo.
The interviewer further asked about football legends such as Arjen Robben, Gareth Bale, and Mohammed Salah. Obafemi was asked about his speed in comparison with Ronaldo R9 of Brazil. He said, “I’m faster than him; he knows that.”
He further compared his speed against Leroy Sane, Adama Traore, and Theo Walcott. Obafemi said, “No player on this list is faster than me. Go to Inter Milan and ask about me.”
This interview, currently hosted on ESPN Uk’s TikTok profile, has over 3.4 million views as of the time of this post. It has since sparked several comments among fans and viewers.
Martin’s career stats are 488 games with 183 goals and 64 assists. He has played in the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, and Bundesliga amongst others.
