The House of Representatives(reps) has strongly refuted claims that it summoned the  Speakers of the Benue and Zamfara State Houses of Assembly over ongoing political disputes in the afore mentioned states.

The House of reps firmly declared in a letter dated Thursday, May 8, 2025, signed by Professor Jake Dan-Azumi, the Honourable Speaker’s Chief of Staff, that it had no documentation of the case being referred to its Committee on Public Petitions.

Although the group’s email on the subject was acknowledged, the letter, which was sent to the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, claimed that no such summons had been issued.

Part of the letter read, “I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your letter concerning the summons issued to the Honourable Speakers of the Benue and Zamfara State Houses of Assembly, and to respectfully inform you that the House of Representatives has no record of a referral of the matter to the Committee on Public Petitions.”
