Armed robbers shoot man for not possessing valuables
A man returning from a wedding was shot by armed robbers in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, after he could not provide them with anything of value.
On Monday, May 26, 2025, a passerby discovered the victim lying in a field in a rural area of Ndwedwe, twelve hours after the shooting.
The passerby called Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for medical help, noting that the location was very remote and they could not transport the victim themselves.
RUSA officers and paramedics were dispatched around 11:37 AM. Upon arrival, the victim recounted that he had been walking home after attending a wedding on Sunday when two men confronted him in the field.
One of the men pulled out a gun and demanded his valuables. When the victim told them he had nothing of value, he was shot in the right knee. The assailants then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Unable to walk, the injured man remained in the field until the passerby found him twelve hours later.
He was stabilized at the scene before being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
