Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on Nigerian governors to give greater attention to infrastructure, describing it as a driving force for economic development and improved quality of life.

He made the remark on Tuesday while commissioning the newly reconstructed Zanna Road in the Government Reservation Area, GRA, of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital. The project is part of Governor Dauda Lawal’s initiatives marking his second year in office.

The former president noted that sustainable development cannot be achieved without strong investments in infrastructure such as roads, health care, water supply, security, and communication.

He said the effort put into reconstructing the road and similar projects across the state indicates a leadership focused on addressing the basic needs of the people.

What I’ve witnessed here points to a deliberate commitment to improving public infrastructure for the good of the people,” Obasanjo stated. “I encourage other state leaders to take a similar approach that directly impacts their citizens.”

Governor Lawal, who also spoke at the event, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding public infrastructure and restoring confidence in governance.
