Hon. Yayough Aondoakaa, the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State’s Tarka Local Government Area, has been killed by unidentified gunmen.
The assassination, which happened on Friday at Wannune Market, has thrown the community into fear and confusion as the Wannune is home to the Benue NYSC camp.

The gunmen, who entered the market on motorcycles, reportedly enquired about Aondoakaa’s whereabouts before shooting him dead at close range, according to witnesses.
According to the residents, this was not the first time he had been targeted for death.
His wife was tragically killed in what seemed to be an unsuccessful effort to kill him during an earlier incident last year according to sources.
While investigations are underway, authorities have not yet issued an official announcement.
