Wike responds to hoax allegation of land grabbing for sons
Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), formally addressed claims on Thursday that he gave his two sons around 41 land parcels, characterising the claims as being supported by an unsuccessful Adamawa State politician.
Wike said that he had never made such allocations, but he declined to name the purported sponsor, claiming that such information did not advance national progress.

The minister responded to the accusation in an Abuja-monitored media discussion.
Land Grabbing Hoax
The FCT minister was accused of abusing his office to allocate sprawling hectares of Abuja’s most valuable lands to his son, Joaquin Wike.
The Peoples Gazette published an exclusive article that exposed this, citing official papers and inside sources to support the FCT Minister’s egregious misuse of power.
Since taking office in August 2023, the immediate former governor of Rivers State, has approved the transfer of more over 2,000 hectares of premium real estate to his son, according to the report.

It was discovered that in order to accomplish this, the minister disregarded rules and neglected to pay important fees, which is against both public service ethics and the Nigerian Constitution.
