The Governor of Benue state, Governor Alia has made a shocking move as he has dissolved the state executive council, retaining only the office of Chief of Staff, which will now be occupied by former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher.
The 12th executive council meeting of 2025 concluded with the announcement of Atagher, a seasoned administrator and former acting managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank, as the new Chief of Staff with immediate effect.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terso Kula, disclosed that the dissolution affects only the commissioners.
Governor Alia urged those who might not be reappointed to stay in the party and support the administration, thanking the departing commissioners for their two years of service.

Barr. Bemsen Mnyim, who spoke on behalf of the dissolved commissioners, expressed gratitude to the governor for the chance to serve and described the event as a teaching moment.
