Popular Nigerian artiste manager, Ubi Franklin, has spoken on why he restricted his female signees from getting pregnant.
Ubi Franklin, who is the owner of Made Men Music Group record label, better known as Triple MG, noted that pregnancy disrupts artists’ careers.
He made this known while speaking on the Culture Sonic podcast about the challenges in managing female artists.
While revealing that there’s a “no pregnancy” clause in his contracts with female artistes, Franklin stated that it’s difficult for a songstress without solid career to bounce back after childbirth.
“So just imagine that you’re investing in female artiste and she gets pregnant, that is over because it would take a lot for her to come back. Mention new female artistes that got pregnant and came back.
“I’m not saying they can’t have children, but first build a strong career. If I am signing a female artiste, I always put it in the contract that they will not get pregnant for the duration of the contract.”
