The Galatasaray striker was injured and substituted in the first half following a tackle in the Super Eagles’ narrow 1-0 win over the Amavubi of Rwanda in Uyo.

After medical examinations of the striker’s injury, it was determined that he had suffered a shin bruise and appeared to be in discomfort the next day. Osimhen was taken off in the first half, and his substitute, Tolu Arokodare, came in to later score the winning goal for Nigeria.

As it stands, Nigeria will have to travel to South Africa without their star striker and will have to rely on Cyril Dessers and Tolu Arokodare to give them the decisive three points in their Tuesday clash, as confirmed by top Nigerian sports journalist OjbSports.
