Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP) has charged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is unwilling to hold free and fair elections in 2027.

Galadima claimed in a Monday interview with Prime Time, an Arise Television program, that the Tinubu led administration’s efforts to weaken opposition parties show a willingness to crush any opposition in the next elections.

The NNPC leader insisted that there would be resistance at the polls and warned that the government would lose the elections if it did not alter its governing style.

“This government is not ready to organise a free and fair election. From their antics and how they are destabilising parties, that suggests they don’t want an opposition at all for the election,” he said.

“I want to assure them that there will be opposition, and if they don’t change their style of governance, they will lose this election.”

According to Galadima, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano, is the “generalissimo” of Nigerian politics and will always win Kano in a free and fair election.

“Kwankwaso is the generalissimo of Nigeria’s politics because he is the only one, come rain, come shine, who, if there is a free and fair election, will deliver the most populous state in Nigeria,” he said.

Galadima while speaking on the ADC referred to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a group of politicians and lamented that, despite being aware of the combinations that could win the election, self-interested motives have hindered a united front to overthrow the existing administration.

“ADC is a conglomeration of politicians. I could have wished all of us to come together to unseat the present government, but because of selfishness,” he added.

“All of them know who and who can be combined to win the election, but are we ready to do that?”

Galadima also addressed the rumoured meeting between former President Goodluck Jonathan and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, stating that they ought to decide on a contender to challenge Tinubu.
