Two young men have been arrested by vigilantes members in Kwaita village, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, for allegedly attempting to break into a provision store.
The suspects, identified as Isiyaku Musa and Yohana Danjuma, were reportedly apprehended late Saturday night around 11:12 p.m. while trying to burgle a newly opened shop along Kwaku Road.
Confirming the incident, a member of the vigilantes group, Yahaya Shuaibu, said the suspects were caught in the act during a routine patrol.
“They were found with a sledgehammer and a cutter while trying to destroy the shop’s keys when our team arrived. One of us heard a strange sound and flashed his torchlight towards the shop. The suspects attempted to run but were immediately apprehended,” Shuaibu explained.
He added that the suspects were later handed over to the police for further investigation.
