Relatives of Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, demanding that he accept the return of the bride price paid for their marriage or face a traditional declaration officially dissolving the union.

The ultimatum, contained in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community, accused the senator of “disregarding local customs” and allegedly using his political influence to intimidate Actress Regina’s family members.
The kinsmen of Actress Regina further explained that, according to their tradition, a woman is free to end her marriage once her family returns the bride price.

They alleged that multiple attempts to return the payment had been turned down by Nwoko, warning that if he rejects it again, the money would be publicly placed at Ikeleke Quarter a symbolic act that, under Ogwashi-Uku custom, signifies the dissolution of the marriage.
The letter also condemned the reported arrest of Regina’s siblings, describing it as an act of oppression.
It added that Actress Regina’s family is calling for the immediate release of the detained individuals.
