The Grammy Award nominations for 2026 are almost approaching. There will be fierce rivalry.

Nominees will be officially announced during a video livestream on the Grammy website and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel on Friday at 8 a.m. Pacific and 11 a.m. Eastern.

Gayle King, Doechii, Karol G, Lizzo, Mumford & Sons, Nicole Scherzinger, Sabrina Carpenter, Sam Smith, Angélique Kidjo, Brandi Carlile, CeCe Winans, David Foster, Jon Batiste, Little Big Town, Masaki Koike, and Chappell Roan, last year’s best new artist winner, are among the many talented people who will announce the nominees.

Carpenter’s “Man’s Best Friend,” cover

Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” won’t be included because nominations are limited to records that were commercially released in the United States between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025. However, Carpenter’s “Man’s Best Friend,” which was released just before the deadline on August 29, is likely to be one of the nominees.

Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball

The unveiling of the nominees is also fraught with uncertainty. The most obvious candidates for album of the year, such as Swift, Beyoncé, and Adele, did not release new full-lengths within the eligibility period. However, there have been a few big hits, such as “GNX” by Kendrick Lamar, “Mayhem” by Lady Gaga, and “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” by Bad Bunny. It would be the first time if any of them won first place.

A change to the best country album category is perhaps the most enigmatic of all. After Beyoncé won both best album and best country album at the 2025 Grammy Awards for “Cowboy Carter,” the latter category was split into two, with a new category for best traditional country album. The title “best contemporary country album” has replaced the previous “best country album” category.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1st on CBS and Paramount+.
