The Lagos state government has announced plans to divert traffic on the Lekki-Ajah road for road rehabilitation purposes.
According to reports, the repairs will start on November 15, 2025, and conclude on July 15, 2026.
Lagos‘ transport commissioner, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed in a statement that the rehabilitation has been split into two halves to reduce traffic interruption.

The first phase will start at the Lekki first toll gate and go to the Lekki second toll gate, while the second phase will start at the Lekki second toll gate and end at the Ajah underbridge.
The Lekki-Ajah road will be partially closed during this time, according to the government, which advised motorists to exercise patience and obey traffic signals.
“The project, with preliminary works already in progress, will be carried out in two phases to minimize traffic disruption,” the statement reads.

“Phase 1: Lekki 1st Toll Gate to Lekki 2nd Toll Gate.
“Work will be done in seven (7) sections. During the construction, a lane out of the 2 lanes will be closed while motorists will use the second lane.
“When the closed lane is completed, work will shift to the other lane. During this phase, motorists going to Lekki-Ajah road will have thoroughfare.

“Phase 2: Lekki 2nd Toll Gate to Ajah underbridge. Work will be done in four (4) sections. Motorists from Ajah inward Lekki will be diverted to one lane while repairs are ongoing on the other lane.
“When the first lane is completed, work will move to the second lane. During this phase, motorists heading towards Ajah will have continuous movement.

“Some sections of the road will be partially closed during the repair period.
“Motorists are advised to be patient and follow traffic directions. These repairs are part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to improve road quality and ease traffic flow.”
