Rivers conflict: Tinubu to remain neutral in the feud between Wike and Fubara, according to the Presidency.
The ongoing political crisis in Rivers State has drawn attention from various quarters, including the Presidency, which emphasized that Bola Tinubu will remain neutral between Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The Rivers State government responded sharply to comments from the Abdulahi Ganduje-led APC regarding Governor Fubara’s impeachment, asserting that Ganduje lacks the moral standing to discuss impeachment due to legal issues pending against him. Additionally, Rivers State elders and leaders warned Fubara against tampering with structures at the House of Assembly quarters, while the court-suspended factional Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, insisted that the buildings were in good condition. Furthermore, Rivers youths urged President Tinubu to intervene and address the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State government stated that experts are conducting integrity tests on the Assembly quarters, with the results determining the fate of the structures. Governor Fubara’s visit to the facility was characterized as part of an environmental impact assessment, and any action regarding the buildings will be based on the expert
