Mazi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was found guilty on count one of the terrorist charges against him by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to the previous reports, Mazi Kanu is being charged with eight counts of terrorism at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

While reading the judgment, Justice Omotosho stated that the IPOB leader is guilty of committing an act of terrorism against the Federal Republic of Nigeria by threatening that people will die and the world will be at a standstill during a live broadcast.
The judge said, “Mr Kanu knew what he was doing, he was bent on carrying out these threats without consideration to his own people.

“From the incontroverted evidence it is clear that the defendant carried out preparatory act of terrorism.
“He had the duty to explain himself but failed to do so.”

Reacting to the development, Kanu’s lawyer Aloy Ejimakor wrote on X, “The Judge just convicted Onyendu MAZI NNAMDI KANU on Counts 1 and 2 (acts in furtherance of terrorism). There’s palpable tension in the courtroom, as the judge is presently analyzing Count 3, ominously.”
NaijaEyes reports that the judge is still reading the rest of the judgment at the time of filing this report.
