A Nigerian cleric has stirred massive controversy across social media after calling on President Bola Tinubu to arrest all prominent pastors across the country, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church.
Speaking in Yoruba during a church sermon, the cleric claimed that Nigeria’s insecurity problems still exist because pastors have not banded together to offer powerful intercessory prayers for the nation.

He declared in the widely shared video that all pastors, including himself, ought to be apprehended and sent to Abuja’s Eagle Square under military guard. He believes that the government should establish a tough environment that forces religious leaders to pray fervently for the restoration of the country.
He further stated that he should be used as a scapegoat to send a strong warning to other clerics.

“Arrest all of us, Adeboye, Oyedepo, and every pastor, including me. Take us to Eagle Square with soldiers. Shoot me first and tell others that if they don’t pray to solve Nigeria’s problems, they will face the same fate,” he said in Yoruba.
The cleric maintained that only such extreme actions would force religious authorities to assume responsibility for using prayer to resolve Nigeria’s political and socioeconomic problems.

Nigerians are divided about his excessive submission, which has spurred internet debate. While some thought it was amusing, others contended that prayers are not the answer to Nigeria’s security issues.
