Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced his decision to officially join the Accord Party, following in the footsteps of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Davido revealed plans to visit Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, on Wednesday to pick up his membership card on his verified X handle on Tuesday.
“I Will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO Tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY 😇 Cc @AAdeleke_01,” the singer wrote on X.

The comes barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke officially unveiled the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
On December 9, 2025, Adeleke declared his defection in front of state and national Accord Party leaders at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo.
Speaking at the event, the governor cited the leadership turmoil plaguing the PDP nationally as justification for his decision to leave the PDP and join the Accord Party.

“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders,” Adeleke had said.
The governor went on to say that his administration’s emphasis on the welfare of its residents was consistent with the party’s welfarist ideology.
“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens and workers’ welfare,” he stated.

Adeleke formally announced his resignation from the PDP on December 1, confirming that he had submitted his resignation letter on November 4, 2025, to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area.
In response to his uncle’s resignation from the PDP, Davido had previously shared the news on social media with the comment, “Jeje…”
The singer’s scheduled visit to the renowned Imole House in Osogbo to pick up his membership card has created a lot of excitement on social media, with many political watchers pointing out how entertainment, celebrity power, and political engagement are becoming intertwined in Nigeria.
