Islamic cleric Sheikh Gumi, who resides in Kaduna, claims that on the same morning that a bombing connected to US military operations took place in Nigeria, he was notified that he had been designated for elimination as a Boko Haram figure.
Gumi revealed the information while describing the recent US airstrikes that targeted terrorist organisations in the northeast and northwest.
“There was a bombing here; the morning it happened, I received a call—I won’t tell you who called me—but I was told a security briefing was taking place and I was listed among those who will be eliminated as Boko Haram,” Gumi said.

Sheikh Gumi vehemently opposed foreign military action in Nigeria, contending that it exacerbates rather than lessens insecurity.

“They claim to have come here to fight terrorists, but they are the actual terrorists,” he said.
The cleric expressed dissatisfaction over what he called “silence and inaction” and questioned how political and religious authorities in northern Nigeria responded to the recurrent attacks by Boko Haram and ISIS-affiliated groups.

Additionally, Sheikh Gumi attacked religious professors, accusing them of just supporting Christians and ignoring terrorists’ phoney claims.
“They attacked us for false claims, and they give support of a certain amount of money to Christians alone. No country will accept that. Either you give support to the entire nation or we don’t need it,” Gumi said.
