One of Governor Adeleke’s appointee, Olalekan Oyeyemi, widely known as Lekan Emir, and some of his associates have reportedly murdered a man identified as Kazeem Oyewole, also known as Mosquito, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Residents in the city’s Orita Elelede neighbourhood were alarmed and tense after the occurrence, which happened on Sunday, December 18, 2025.

According to eyewitnesses, Lekan Emir, a current employee of the Osun State Park Management System under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership, participated in the assault with a few of his boys.

However, the exact details surrounding Oyewole’s death remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Residents described Oyewole, also known as Mosquito, a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), as a well-known street figure in the region who was allegedly involved in rivalry among local groups; however, security agencies have not formally verified these reports.

As of press time, the Osun State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the killing or confirm any arrests.

Meanwhile, Reports have revealed that this is not the first of its kind as Lekan Emir has previously been associated with several criminal cases. In 2024, a Federal High Court in Osogbo granted him bail in the sum of ₦50 million after he was arraigned on a 10-count charge bordering on conspiracy, malicious damage, unlawful killing, and acts of terrorism.

According to court documents, on February 27, 2022, Muraina Olayiwola was killed at Orita CMS, Osogbo, after Emir and other allegedly at-large individuals terrorised residents and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

John Olowosaye was detained by the Osun State Police Command many months later on suspicion of plotting with Lekan Emir to kidnap two people in Ede in August 2023.

According to police spokesman Yemisi Opalola, investigations showed that the victims were transported to Osogbo’s Balogun neighbourhood, where a ransom of ₦2.6 million was purportedly deposited into Lekan Emir’s account.
