Peter Obi made the statement on Friday while giving an update on his engagements with residents and political stakeholders in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the February 21 Area Council elections.

According to him, he visited Kubwa in Bwari Area Council, where he met with residents alongside Hon. Josiah Koche, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate, as part of ongoing campaign activities.

He also disclosed that he later proceeded to Gui Ward in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), where he engaged with the Bassa Royal Father and members of the community, together with Dr Moses Paul, the ADC chairmanship candidate for AMAC.

Peter Obi explained that the interactions centred on hearing directly from the people, exchanging ideas, and advancing leadership anchored on competence, compassion, and accountability.

“As always, the engagement was about listening to the people and sharing ideas rooted in competence, compassion, and accountability,” he said.

He added that people-focused governance remains essential for national development, stressing that progress is achievable when leaders are genuinely committed to serving the interests of the people.

“I remain firmly convinced that with the right leadership and people-centred governance, our communities can achieve meaningful and sustainable progress.”
