The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Caleb Ma’aji Bawa, has expressed optimism over the safe return of all worshippers abducted on Sunday at Kurmin Wali in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Chairman of CAN Bawa, who visited the community to console residents over the distressing incident, stated that relevant authorities have taken all necessary steps to ensure the victims’ safe release.
He also noted that the abduction occurred while he was out of the country and commended Governor Uba Sani for his swift and pragmatic response. During his visit to the affected community, the governor reassured residents of the state government’s commitment to deploying every measure necessary to secure the release of the victims.
According to him, “It is regrettable because worshippers went through an unfortunate situation that they never bargained for. It was heartbreaking to the community because it was unexpected.
“I really thank God that today the people in the village are calm and playful, expecting the return of their loved ones safely.”
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, Rev. Ishaya Adamu Jangado, who was also in the community to assess the situation, said the atmosphere remained calm.

CAN chairman assured residents that the abducted persons would soon regain their freedom, adding that he held Governor Uba Sani in high esteem as a leader who keeps his word.
Earlier, the village head of Kurmin Wali, Mr Ishaku DanAjumi, said the assurances given by Governor Uba Sani had brought hope and relief to the community, noting that many residents had initially considered relocating after the incident.
According to the CAN representtative, “The presence of Governor Uba Sani brought relief and hope to the people in the community. He has shown us love and a sense of belonging to have come to our village to see things for himself.”
It was observed that only a few people were seen in the village, while the three churches where the abductions took place appeared deserted.
