President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received a comprehensive security briefing from Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at the State House over the recent terrorist attack in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.

The briefing followed a deadly assault on several communities in Kaiama, particularly Woro village, where terrorists reportedly attacked residents who resisted indoctrination.
While earlier reports put the number of casualties at about 75, fresh information indicates that the death toll has climbed to roughly 162.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who toured the affected communities on Wednesday in the company of security personnel, described the incident as a “pure massacre” and ordered the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency to immediately roll out humanitarian support for the victims.
Reacting to the development, President Tinubu approved the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama and announced the commencement of a new military operation tagged “Operation Savannah Shield,” aimed at flushing out the attackers and safeguarding vulnerable communities.
The President Tinubu strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “beastly,” and reiterated his administration’s resolve to reinforce security across the region.
