The announcement was made during the 2025 orientation programme for 50 prospective Christian pilgrims sponsored by the state government.
The development signals the resumption of state-funded Christian pilgrimages after more than a decade, following the programme’s discontinuation by previous administrations.
Speaking at the programme, the Head of Service, Mrs. Jimami C. Bako, commended the governor for reintroducing the initiative.
She said the current administration recognises spiritual development and moral values as important complements to infrastructure and economic growth.

According to her, the revival of the pilgrimage scheme shows “leadership that values faith as a foundation for peace and social harmony.”
The Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, also described the move as consistent with the administration’s commitment to fairness and inclusion.
Uba Sani said: “The initiative aligns with the government’s promise of justice, equity and inclusiveness for all residents, irrespective of religious affiliation.”
Maiyaki urged the intending pilgrims to use the opportunity to pray for peace, unity and lasting prosperity for the state and Nigeria as a whole.
