Edo State Commissioner for Information, Kassim Afegbua, has blamed former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi for the assassination attempt on his life, saying that he should have informed the state government before entering the state.
In an interview with Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” the Commissioner made this statement on Wednesday.

He made these remarks while reacting to new about the attack on Peter Obi and other prominent African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftains.
Recall that just two days ago, Peter Obi escaped an assassination attempt in Edo state as thugs opened fire on the politician and other members of the obident movement.
Afegbua added that when Governor Monday Okpebholo asked Peter Obi to get his permission before entering the state last year, it was misunderstood.

“People misinterpreted what Governor Okpebolo meant when he made the statement in July last year, to the extent that anytime Peter Obi wants to come to Edo, he should please inform the state government.
“But because Obi is a politically exposed person, we would expect that he would extend the courtesy of informing the government of the day.

“What happened in Edo should be located within the ambit of the ADC—one factional group of the ADC versus another faction of the ADC,” the Commissioner said.
