Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has once again reiterated his vow to resign if President Bola Tinubu does not win the 2027 general elections.
In an interview with African Independent Television (AIT) on Friday, Gov Monday Okpebholo made this promise.
He listed the state’s development initiatives and predicted that the Edo people will vote for Tinubu in 2027.

“Edo people have not even thanked Tinubu. How they will thank him is through their votes.
“The various projects across the state are the things that will speak for Tinubu and he will win here. Bet me, if he doesn’t win, I will resign as governor.
“There’s no election here for him. I’m a politician, who under-studied Chief Aneni. My style of politics is not thuggery but grassroots,” he said.

This however will not be the first time Governor Monday is making such remarks. The Edo state governor has repeatedly voiced his full support for the APC-led administration and a second tenure of Mr. President as well as profound confidence that Edo state will vote for Tinubu.
In November of 2025, Monday Okpebholo, stated that he was prepared to resign from office if President Bola Ahmed fails to win the state in the 2027 presidential election.

He further added that Edo state will deliver at least 3.5 million votes to the current administration come 2027 election.
