Devastating Fire Strikes Taraba Again Within Hours

Residents of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, were thrown into fresh panic on Monday following another fire outbreak, just hours after an earlier incident in the city.

The latest fire reportedly broke out around 2:08 p.m. at Baba Ya’u CBN Bypass Taraba, shortly after a similar blaze occurred in the Magami area of the state capital.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Taraba State Command, said it promptly responded to a distress call and immediately deployed its personnel to the scene.

According to the statement signed by the Taraba command’s spokesperson, Sylvanus Mikailu, preliminary investigations revealed that the fire spread to a residential compound due to bush burning in the vicinity.

The fire affected a three-bedroom apartment measuring approximately 50 by 100 feet, owned by Alhaji ASK Mai Tulare, which was being used for residential purposes.

The emergency response was initiated after a distress call from ASFII Nurudeen Usman, leading to the rapid deployment of firefighting personnel under the leadership of ASFII Solomon Bello.

“Upon arrival, the crew conducted a rapid assessment and immediately began aggressive fire suppression, deploying one medium jet of water from Fire Appliance FFS 206, driven by FA Auwal Muhammad,” the statement noted.

The command confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident and credited the swift intervention of the firefighters for preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings.

It further stated that properties valued at approximately ₦10 million were successfully safeguarded thanks to the prompt response of the firefighting team.

The Federal Fire Service reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property through rapid response, professionalism, and operational efficiency. Residents were also urged to adopt preventive safety measures, including installing basic firefighting equipment in homes and businesses to help control fires before the arrival of emergency responders.
