The House of Representatives has amended the Electoral Act 2026 to criminalize dual membership of political parties.
Under the new provision, anyone found belonging to more than one political party simultaneously will be liable to a fine of N10 million.
The amendment was passed by the green chamber during Wednesday’s plenary session.
The House also proscribed a maximum prison term of two years for offenders.
