The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Taiwo Oyedele as a minister-designate in the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The confirmation was announced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, after lawmakers approved the nomination through a voice vote at the Committee of the Whole.
The Senate on Wednesday began the screening of Taiwo Oyedele for the position of Minister of State for Finance.
The screening session commenced after the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved a motion requesting that Oyedele be admitted into the chamber.
Oyedele was subsequently escorted into the Senate by Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Senate matters. He arrived at about 2:21 pm, accompanied by several government officials.
Among those who accompanied him were Kayode Ajulo, Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, and Tokunbo Kayode, former Minister of Defence.

Recalls that on Tuesday, President Tinubu formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
In a separate request, the President also urged the Senate to confirm former Rivers South-East Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC.
Both requests were outlined in separate letters read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
