Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has confidently said that the state’s woodlands have been cleared of bandits as a result of ongoing security operations, particularly in the Alkaleri axis, which has seen numerous attacks in recent weeks.
Speaking on Saturday at the Eid-el-Fitr Durbar in Bauchi’s Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu Square, the governor said that the Nigerian military and other security services worked together to drive criminal organisations from their hiding places and out of the state.
The statement was made in response to recent attacks on communities in the Alkaleri Local Government Area, such as Mansur and Gwana, which caused inhabitants to have new security worries.

“Today, I can confidently say that there are no bandits harbouring in any forest in Bauchi State. Our forests have been cleared through decisive military action and improved intelligence gathering,” the governor said.
Gov Bala Mohammed said that the activities of the Armed Forces and other security agencies had contributed to the restoration of peace in Alkaleri and the surrounding communities, and he commended them for their contribution in stabilising the afflicted areas.
He emphasised that public collaboration is essential to maintaining the gains already made and urged locals to stay vigilant and provide security agents with helpful information.

As his administration approaches the conclusion of its second term next year, the governor also took the opportunity to ask the state’s citizens for forgiveness.
“As my tenure gradually comes to an end, I find it necessary to seek your forgiveness for any wrongs, knowing fully that no human is perfect,” he said.
He gave Bauchi State residents the assurance that his administration will carry with continuing initiatives in important areas including healthcare, education, and road building till the conclusion of the term.

Additionally, Bala Mohammed went on to stress that his administration would continue to work closely with traditional institutions, citing the partnership’s continued importance for the state’s social harmony, peace, and security.
