Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside civilian hunters and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, have arrested a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram in Gombi.

The development was disclosed in a report by security expert Makama Zagazola.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Abdullahi Umar, a native of Gwoza, was apprehended on March 23 following credible intelligence indicating the presence of ISWAP elements within the 232 Battalion’s area of responsibility.

Preliminary findings revealed that Umar had been assigned to carry out reconnaissance along routes leading to the battalion’s base and other military locations, with the aim of identifying potential access points for future attacks.
He also reportedly confessed to involvement in a recent attack on troops in Ngoshe.
Umar is currently in military custody as investigations continue and further actions are being taken.
