The minister of power, Bayo Adelabu, has expressed regret to Nigerians for the inadequate power supply and frequent blackouts that have been observed in recent months.
Adelabu apologised during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
“I want to apologise, coming from me as a minister of power, for this temporary issue that is leading to hardship being experienced,” he said.

Adelabu stated that the apology was required because of the intense heat induced by the dry season, which has interfered with companies, schools, and industries.
“It is not our wish to find ourselves in this situation, but it is some factors that are actually beyond our control,” he said.
The minister stated that the administration is still dedicated to guaranteeing a sufficient supply of electricity throughout the nation.
“We are working on it 24-7 to make sure that we go back to the trajectory of 2025, whereby you praised us and commended us for a good job well done,” Adelabu said.

However, he said the government “cannot help it, that’s why we find ourselves here”.
“But I can assure you that in the next few weeks, all this will be over, power generation will improve, distribution will improve, and that 6,000 MHz will be achieved before the end of this year, and Nigerians will be better for it,” Adelabu added.

The minister announced on 20 March that the federal government has made significant progress in resolving ongoing issues with gas supplies that have an impact on the production of power.
Recall that on March 5, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) stated that the ongoing reduction in electricity production was caused by ongoing problems with gas supplies that affected a number of thermal power facilities.
