Popular Nigerian singer Chike has shared the marital advice his mother gave him, revealing that she urged him not to marry someone who does not add value to his life, regardless of love.

In a recent interview on Ada’s Room podcast, Chike disclosed that his mother advised him against marrying into a poor family or choosing an unemployed partner.
The 33-year-old explained that, according to his mother, marrying someone from a financially dependent family or an unemployed background could become a significant financial burden.
“I think everybody should look for a partner that has value. Personally, my mum advised me never to settle down with a woman who doesn’t have a source of livelihood regardless of love,” he said.

The singer added, “She also told me never to marry someone with the baggage of family responsibilities, especially a firstborn that is not productive.”
Chike said he often interrogates ladies to see if they are from comfortable families and are productive before proposing relationship.
He advised men to think beyond sex and consider other factors before entering into relationships, especially ones with marriage potentials.
