The PDP National Working Committee, led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and supported by the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, have confirmed that a new reconciliation effort to bring the party’s disgruntled factions together started today.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday, Turaki revealed that the reconciliation has been producing some effects from yesterday night and this morning.

He stated, “I can confirm that leaders of both sides, as of today, are working towards solutions. So reconciliation is ongoing, and all hope is not lost.

“From last night, those who are benefiting from this crisis and who do not want reconciliation to work have been shut out. So from that time till this morning, both sides are making some progress.”

Turaki advised supporters to exercise moderation in order to prevent jeopardising the continuing attempts at peace.

“In obedience to the advisory of the Court of Appeal… the Board of Trustees… constituted a high-powered committee to interface with our estranged party members, with a view to resolving outstanding issues and repositioning the party for the elections,” he said.
