According to reports, nine soldiers and a police officer may have been killed in a devastating ambush by armed militants in Kebbi State’s Shanga Local Government Area.
The incident which happened on Tuesday night was verified by the Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack unfolded in the Giro Masa community when security operatives were suddenly targeted by the assailants.

Security forces reportedly tracked the shooters, who were thought to have been in the vicinity for a while, to a construction firm yard.
Following a tip-off from residents, soldiers were dispatched to secure the site—but were ambushed along the way.
According to eyewitnesses the incident resulted in the deaths of an undisclosed number of military personnel and two civilians. Two military trucks were also reportedly set on fire during the mayhem.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, locals described the scene as chaotic and frightening, leaving the neighbourhood in disbelief.
Official remarks regarding the incident have not yet been made by the military authorities.
Confirming the incident, Governor Nasir Idris visited the mortuary and the accident and emergency unit of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where victims of the attack were taken to.

He promised that the state government will support the families of the security personnel who died and pay for the medical expenses of the injured.
