Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, will formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30, according to the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
This was disclosed in an announcement made public on Saturday night.

The defection ceremony is set to begin at 12 p.m. on Gidan Kwakwasiyya Miller Road in Bompai, Kano state.
“Members are also encouraged to fully engage in all party activities and contribute actively toward the growth, development, and success of the party at all levels,” the statement read.

This is a significant development in the political chess game leading up to Nigeria’s national elections in 2027.
Kwankwaso had contested for the presidency under the umbrella of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, in the 2023 polls.

This development comes only few days after Kwankwaso hosted Peter Obi, Dickson and Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde in his Kano home.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement reiterated its position, emphasising the need to protect democracy and respect popular will while promising to stay unified and concentrated on creating a more inclusive Nigeria.
