The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, issued the advisory as the state prepares for increased human and vehicular movement during the festive period.
He urged motorists and other road users to exercise caution, maintain discipline, and strictly adhere to traffic regulations, warning against offences such as driving under the influence of alcohol, overspeeding, and dangerous overtaking.
Bakare-Oki noted that such behaviours could lead to avoidable accidents, loss of lives, and property damage, stressing that no celebration should compromise public safety.
To ease traffic flow, the agency has strategically deployed additional officers to key areas, including major highways, transport terminals, intersections, business districts, recreational centres, and religious venues across the state’s five divisions.
The personnel have been directed to intensify monitoring, enforce traffic laws, and respond swiftly to road incidents.

In addition, LASTMA has positioned high- and medium-capacity tow trucks, traffic cones, safety barriers, and other essential equipment to promptly address vehicle breakdowns and traffic disruptions.
According to Bakare-Oki, the enhanced deployment underscores the agency’s commitment to ensuring safe and efficient movement throughout the Easter period, noting that operational teams are fully mobilised to handle the expected increase in traffic volume.
He appealed to motorists to remain patient, comply with traffic officials, and prioritise safety at all times, warning that a moment of negligence could have irreversible consequences.
The LASTMA boss also called on commercial drivers, transport unions, fleet operators, and logistics companies to sensitise their members on the dangers of overloading, speeding, and substance abuse, emphasising that collective responsibility is key to reducing road accidents.
He further extended Easter greetings to residents and reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to ensure seamless traffic management during the celebrations, while encouraging the public to report traffic violations, obstructions, and emergencies for swift intervention.
