The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has approved the appointment of retired Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar as the Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idanawa.
The appointment, which takes effect from April 22, 2026, was communicated in an official letter signed by Aliyu Ibrahim Ahmed, a Senior Councillor of the Kano Emirate Council.
According to the letter issued from the council’s secretariat in Kano, the decision followed the passing of the previous titleholder on April 14, 2026.
The council noted that the Emir expressed confidence in the new appointee’s ability to support the growth and development of the Kano Emirate.
In the letter, the Emir Sanusi congratulated Umar and encouraged him to apply his experience toward advancing the emirate and the state.
The Emirate Council also offered prayers for divine guidance and success as he assumes his new role.
