Following the Supreme Court’s rejection of the Kabiru Turaki-led group’s appeal over the Ibadan National Convention, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike declared an end to factionalism within the Peoples Democratic Party.

Shortly after the ruling on Thursday, Wike told reporters at his home in Abuja that the Supreme Court’s ruling had definitively resolved the issue.
‎”The Supreme Court judgment has now made it known there is only one PDP, and we no longer hear faction,” Wike confirmed. “Faction does not exist any longer in the Peoples Democratic Party.”

The Supreme Court declared the PDP national convention held in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025, which produced the Tanimu Turaki-led executives, invalid.

The court earlier ruled that the convention amounted to an “abuse of court process” and was conducted in defiance of court orders, effectively ending the opposition party’s months-long leadership crisis.

Additionally, Nyesom Wike said the Turaki-led coalition has dashed the ambitions of key supporters, including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and Governor Seyi Makinde.

“I don’t know where they are going to pitch their tent,” he said.

Nyesom Wike also said that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction supporting Atiku Abubakar will not be allowed to join the PDP.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria yesterday nullified the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025.

In a split judgment delivered on Thursday, three out of five justices of the apex court ruled that the appeal filed by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the PDP lacked merit.

The disputed Ibadan convention had been the subject of prolonged legal battles before the Supreme Court’s final ruling.
