Award-winning Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has opened up about his difficult childhood, revealing that he was raised solely by his mother after his father abandoned the family.
Speaking during a candid interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actor disclosed that growing up without a father figure deeply affected him and led him into drug use at a point in his life.
“I was a hot mess as a child. My dad abandoned me. My mom raised me alone, and I turned to drugs,” Bucci Franklin shared.
He explained that he was eventually able to overcome the addiction through the love, support, and dedication of his mother.
Bucci Franklin credited his mother for the success he enjoys today, praising her sacrifices and strength.
The actor also stressed the challenges of single parenting, noting that children, especially boys, need a strong father figure while growing up.
