After winning the party’s primary election unopposed, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Zaria Federal Constituency of Kaduna State in the 2027 general elections.
As the APC began its nationwide House of Representatives primaries ahead of the 2027 polls, party members in the constituency’s 13 electoral wards on Saturday returned Mr. Tajudeen through an affirmation process.
Musa Krishi, the Speaker’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, signed a statement announcing the development.
Recall that the APC earlier concluded its screening exercise for aspirants seeking the party’s tickets before the commencement of the primaries on Saturday.
According to the statement, party members gathered at the speaker’s ward, the Kwarbai B APC office, for the exercise, which began peacefully around 10 a.m.
Ward APC secretary Nafiu Sabo said Kwarbai B has more than 10,000 registered party members, although only 220 delegates were approved to take part in the affirmation process.

Meanwhile, APC Returning Officer Iliyasu Balarabe led the exercise in the ward in the presence of the Speaker.
Ahead of the affirmation, Mr. Balarabe told party members that Mr. Tajudeen was the only aspirant who purchased the nomination form, passed screening, and received the APC’s approval to contest the Zaria Federal Constituency ticket.
Following the announcement, the cleared party members in Kwarbai B unanimously affirmed Mr Tajudeen as the APC candidate for the constituency.
