Peter Obi has responded to reports claiming that former President Goodluck Jonathan has joined the race for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking with journalists shortly after his screening in Abuja, Peter Obi said he is not focused on who enters the race, stressing that his attention is on national development.
The former Anambra State governor explained that his priority is to contribute to building a better Nigeria where ordinary citizens can rise to positions of success without needing political connections.
He noted that democracy allows individuals to offer themselves for service and be elected, adding that he is not concerned about monitoring other aspirants but is instead committed to improving the country.
Peter Obi further stated that ahead of the 2027 election, his focus remains on promoting a united, secure, and prosperous Nigeria through inclusive governance based on the principle of federal character.
He also emphasized the need for improved national security, saying Nigerians should be able to move freely without fear, and families should no longer live in anxiety over insecurity and violence.
