Former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Mannir Dan-Iya, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections in Sokoto State.
Mannir Dan-Iya clinched the party’s ticket following the ADC governorship primary election held across 244 wards in the state’s 23 local government areas.
The Chief Returning Officer of the exercise, Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, announced that Dan-Iya secured a total of 52,831 votes to emerge winner.
“Consequently, I hereby declare you as the ADC candidate for the 2027 general elections,” Illela stated while declaring the result.
In his acceptance speech, Mannir Dan-Iya expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence placed in him, pledging to justify the mandate given to him.

He said he was optimistic that the ADC would defeat the ruling party in the 2027 elections and urged members to remain united ahead of the polls.
Dan-Iya also acknowledged the support of former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, as well as other party leaders and stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Tambuwal expressed confidence in the ADC’s chances in the upcoming elections, noting that the party had created opportunities for young aspirants to participate in elective positions.
He called on party members to remain patient, focused, and committed to strengthening the party ahead of the general elections.
