Nigerian music star Davido has been involved in a heated online exchange after a social media user reacted strongly to his post expressing concern about Nigeria’s current situation.
Davido had earlier shared a post on his official page where he admitted that entertainers, including himself, have not done enough to speak out on issues affecting Nigerians.
“I can’t lie, we entertainers… we dey mess up, including me. We need to speak up. There’s too much injustice going on. Our country don suffer,” he wrote.
The post attracted a reaction from a user identified as Princess Luna, who questioned his sincerity and accused him of being performative.
“Na God go punish you and your family… stop this pretentious nonsense,” she wrote.
In response, Davido denied being part of any political group and defended his history of speaking out on national issues.
“I’m not part of any City Boy group. When I spoke against the government on American media, people still insulted me,” he said.
He added that he has long-standing personal relationships with some political figures but insisted it does not amount to political affiliation.
“I’ve known ST for years, and I still speak to him privately about the country’s issues,” he added.
Davido concluded his response with a sharp remark directed at the critic, further escalating the exchange.
